Part of the EU can never be a narcodical

Dear friends, today, May 9, the day Europe celebrates peace and unity, the date marking the anniversary of the « Schuman statement » historic proposal made by French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman in 1950, which laid the foundations of European cooperation.

For the European Union this May 9 has the peculiarity of being the 75th anniversary of the visionary ideas of its establishment, for us Albanians cannot be less than the ominous knocking of the change 48 hours before our country recovers what was dust for 12 years, the European journey.

It is hardly the second nation still outside the European family doors that has linked its dreams with united Europe more than Albania and Albanians. Out of the anterior of the social death of the most outrageous dictatorship in the continent, the Albanians loved Albania like all of Europe when they knew for Europe only in letters, in desires, secret and in fear.

The Democratic Party had the courage and historical destiny to lead the country since the beginnings of the first Albanian democratic state, initially with reforms and then institutionalizing the steps for its membership. Never a second political force has left as an undeniable trace in its heritage, steps and achievements towards Albania’s EU membership more than the Democratic Party. Under its leadership, Albanians hoped, believed and experienced the symbol agreement of the accession path, free and visa -free movement in Europe and the Schengen area, deep economic, legal, political reforms for approximation with European standards, until the application of candidate status, which Albanians enjoyed after the Democrats left power.

But as an iron curtain that divides two times, the coming to power of the Renaissance froze every step, every progress, any further development of the integration process. Albania, which sought for years to sit worthily as equals at EU tables, was alienated in the European arena in image, status and prestige. Our country was recognized in these 12 years no more than the Prime Minister’s transgressive circus without any responsibility for the nation led, without the slightest state responsibility when in 2019, the second chamber of representatives in the Netherlands voted in favor of the motion to return visas to the citizens of Albania after 2021, or in 2021. Permanent in the EU urged the European Commission to return the visa regime for Albania. The only EU news during the three seats of government, offered as progress in the progress of the EU membership process was the opening of negotiations for the 33 chapters of the acquis. The truth is that this step actually came as a result of reforming the membership process for EU candidate countries and at all as a reward for a state that rolls into international indices of democracy and freedom each year.

Part of the EU can never be a narcotat, Albania was not offered to the European Union as such, Albanians did not offer Europe as citizens of a crime.

Therefore, this 75th annual EU friends will also be remembered for us Albanians as the year when the journey to the EU was recaptured by the Democrats, to fulfill their commitment, a European Albania that deserves to be part of the European Union as such. Promises are kept, commitments are fulfilled, dreams are led to the end. European Albania will be that of the homeland of Albanians, teachers and doctors who pay no less than their colleagues in the West, young people and young women studying with the standards of their peers, Albanian and foreign investors, which with other European countries exchange economies and not a crime.

This will be Albania after May 11, the magnificent Albania, worthy of being part of the large European family.
