Parliament on Friday on amendments to the Criminal Procedure Act. Referees will receive new powers
The Croatian Parliament will conclude this week’s session on Friday with the discussion of amendments to the Criminal Procedure Act, which is supplemented by the catalog of criminal offenses with the criminal offense of the MPs.
This means that the investigating judge will be able to determine, at the request of the State Attorney, a special evidentiary action if there are a basics of suspicion of committing the criminal offense of bribery of MPs.
These changes are made in an emergency procedure to align with the OECD legal standards.
The amendments also prescribe a new obligation to the police to inform the victims of the release of the detainees and detainees. The new date of entry into force of the provisions governing the mandatory tone recording of the discussion and the contents of the record, or is prolonged from May 1, 2025 on July 1, 2027, is also prescribed.
« Considering that the implementation of the above provisions is a demanding and complex procedure that, among other things, involves equipping all courtrooms in Croatia with appropriate IT equipment, as well as the adaptation process related to the application of computer equipment, required for smoothly obituary conduct of the tone of the discussion, it is necessary to delay the beginning of application, » the explanation states.
