Parliament dismisses the Interior Minister


The Peruvian Parliament on Friday the Minister of Interior Juan José Santivánez, the strength of the government, while he faces a wave of pressure due to the lack of results in the fight against organized crime, notes AFP.

With 79 votes for, 11 against and 20 abstentions, the Parliament triggered the resignation of the minister 'for his political responsibility and his inability to cope with the wave of insecurity faced the country', according to the motion voted in public hearing.

In order to be revoked from office, 66 votes 'yes' were needed.

As a result of this murder, the government declared an emergency in Lima for a month, allowing the army to support the police in its operations against organized crime.

The vote took place a few hours before a protest march in Lima to ask the Government to suppress the extortion and homicides.

In the first three months of the year, 459 homicides related to crime were registered in Peru, according to the national computer system of deaths.

According to the Peruvian press, this is the largest number of the last two decades.
