Parking chaos or finally some additional places
The municipality of Celje would solve the problem of finding a parking space by turning the parking lot behind the lower castle and Maximilian into a blue zone. This would acquire 442 parking spaces for visitors, while the municipality directs the employees to other parking lots. The problem is, in the analysis that included a single Wednesday and one Saturday, they did not show that similar parking lots were already occupied about 90 %.
According to an analysis presented by city councilors at the April meeting, about 600 employees come to the city every day. These are supposed to occupy all possible parking lots, which means that visitors are running out of space. The municipality’s proposal would make it much easier for visitors to arrive in the city, but for employees it would be, according to the information they have in the municipality, but there were no nightmares in the city council material.

According to publicly available data from ZPO, which manages public parking lots, there are 450 parking spaces in the blue zone in Celje. Why the city needs an additional 442 and how many would be enough for all visitors, the municipality does not know: « How many additional parking spaces in the blue zone would need to meet the needs of visitors, it is difficult to accurately determine without additional operation and demand analysis. »
They added that many visitors to the center, despite 450 parking spaces in the blue zone, do not find parking space because part of them is occupied by residents of the old town who holds annual permits, and holders of monthly parking permits in this zone: “It often happens that drivers who remain in the blue zone are also parked in the blue zone. places. ”This can also be done remotely with the Central application.

Where with employees?
In analyzing parking in one working day (Wednesday, 22 January), municipal services were accompanied by the number of visitors, employees and residents parking in the city center. After Work They explained that they did this by monitoring and writing « the last three characters of the license plate and the brands and colors of the vehicle. Based on this information, we were able to monitor how much time the individual vehicle was parked in a certain location. ”If the vehicle was parked mainly at night, it was considered a resident, if parked from four to ten hours, he was employed, and up to three hours the parked vehicle was treated as a visitor.
Miran Gaberšek From the municipality of Celje, at the presentation of the material at the City Council meeting, he gave an alternative: « For employees in the city, mostly parking here, there are still enough parking spaces in the surrounding area – City Park, Vrunčeva and Aškerčeva ulica, fabric (Teharska), Glazija and Celeiapark parking lot. » In order to encourage employees to park in Glazia, they reduce the annual permit to $ 600, ie $ 50 a month, now they pay $ 40 per month behind the lower castle. But we should pay for Glasia at a time. If you would like to pay the same, you would have to find another parking lot in Zone II, which Gaberšek is aware of, who at the end of the meeting emphasized: « For employees, Vrunčeva Street is the best alternative, only a few minutes is on foot. »
For the Maksimilian building, there is currently a parking lot connected to the parking lot behind the Lower Castle. But this part, where the macadam is, is not municipal owned, and the private owner plans to build. There will certainly be no more parking in the future. Photo: Špela Kuralt/Work
The problem is, these parking lots are very busy, as noted by the saint Damir Ivančič: “Chaos is already on Vrunčeva and Aškerčeva. If you do not come at seven in the morning, there is no parking space. « He announced to the audience: » When all this will be crashed elsewhere from the lower castle, the chaos will be even greater. Celeiapark is mentioned as an alternative. Why isn’t there already filled there? Because she is architecturally bad. Access with larger cars is difficult, you damage it sooner than you park. ”Although they have not presented at the saints of the occupancy of the parking lots, they are for Work replied from the municipality that the parking lot on Vrunčeva Street, where they send employees, is occupied from 80 to 90 %. Of all the parking lots (not parking houses), which Gaberšek cited as an alternative, the most space is in the city park, but there are 77 all cities.
Hot summer
Obviously, they realized in the municipality that they could not count on the current parking lots as an alternative, so after the meeting, we were told that reserves in both parking lots and in the city park: « In addition, we will start building an extension to the Glazi Parking House (about 150 parking spaces) and arrangements for several other new parking spaces, » Known.

The councilors will decide on a decree that could increase the blue zone and enter into force in the summer at the May meeting. It is unknown whether they will alleviate the proposal, as they are studying all the proposals of the saints. They also noted that not all employees are from Celje and thus cannot go with Celebus, foot or by bicycle, so there should be parking lots. But for Maximilian, there will be two hundred of them in the future, because the private owner is planning to build there. In the fall, however, they are planning to abolish something on Gosposka Street based on the orientations of the Celje professional fire brigade and Simbio, and at the same time they want to take Celebus there, past the music school and the cathedral.
