Mayor of Sint-Gillis-Waas Koen Daniëls (N-VA) requires more respect for the agricultural crops at the Tulpenvelden in Meerdonk. The colorful tulips attract a lot of spectacular every year, although not everyone behaves like solidarity with the surroundings and the flowers. « We hope that the banner makes you think a bit, » says the mayor.
The tulip fields in the Meerdonk district are a tourist attraction and are also colored in good weather by numerous tourists who want to take snapshots themselves. Since not everyone displays the necessary respect, N-VA board party now places a banner to take a change. After all, a lot of crops are trampled and picked.
« Actually, it is only logical that you do not walk between the crops in a field, let alone that you pick them, pull them out or trample. But unfortunately there are people who don’t care”

Mayor
« Actually, it is only logical that you do not walk between the crops in a field, let alone pick them, pull them out or trample, » said the mayor. « A number of visitors enjoy the splendor with respect, but unfortunately there are those who don’t care. »
Bread
« For that reason we placed a banner to indicate that the tulips, but also other agricultural crops, are owned by the farmers, but also make their living for them. We hope that it still makes you think a bit. » Enjoy with your eyes, « says our call. »

Not only in the tulip fields, but also in the vicinity, not everything always goes properly. « The streets on the tulip fields are forbidden for all vehicles excluded riders, farmers and cyclists, » it is still.
Parking ban
« But although no cars could actually come, it was parked here and there, making agricultural vehicles sometimes difficult to pass. People did not take into account the legal free space that should always be there. We therefore already placed extra signs with a parking ban and asked the police to pass occasionally. » (YJS)
