The Public Prosecutor’s Office of West Flanders has decided to open an investigation into the YouTuber Acid, after he published a video about the rape case in Leuven. The public prosecutor reports that.
The correctional court of Leuven gave a suspension of a student of medicine on Tuesday. The gynecologist in training was found guilty of the rape of another student, but was not punished for this. The verdict then caused a lot of dust on social media and the public prosecutor’s office in the meantime announced that it would appeal against the verdict.
YouTuber Acid announced the name of the defendant in a video on Wednesday. After a similar video about the death of Sanda Dia, the West-Flemish public prosecutor did not start any research at the time. Due to a direct summons of an ex-statement, Nathan Vandergunst (25), the real name of the YouTuber, still had to answer for the Bruges correctional court. On February 22, 2024, he was sentenced to three months in prison with postponement and 800 euros fine.
The West Flanders public prosecutor now reports that it has taken note of the new video from Acid. The public prosecutor’s office today started an investigation into the YouTuber, to see if criminal offenses were committed.
No further information is provided about the criminal investigation for the time being.
