Muscle injury
Ousmane Dembélé had given PSG the victory in the first game with an early goal. The top scorer of France was struggling with a muscle injury after that match and sat on the couch for the return. Timber had recovered from his physical complaints for a base place on time.
Where PSG in London had overwhelmed the English in the opening phase, Arsenal turned things around in Paris. Declan Rice headed a pass from Timber just wide in the third minute, after which PSG keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma saved on the deployment of Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Ødegaard.
The home team only came close to Arsenal’s goal after more than fifteen minutes. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia immediately shot from the first chance of the post, after which Arsenal keeper David Raya made a bet by Désiré Doué harmless. The goalkeeper, however, had no chance in the 27th minute with a hard shot from Ruiz, 1-0. Bradley Barcola could have made it worse for Arsenal, but he waited too long.
Unfortunate handball
Paris Saint-Germain kept control for a long time after the break, although Donnarumma still had to save on a nice shot from Saka. After an unfortunate handball from Myles Lewis-Skelly, Vitinha could have increased the margin of PSG from the dot, but the Portuguese failed. Hakimi made the 2-0 before Saka returned four minutes later on behalf of Arsenal, 2-1. The attacker had a big chance of the equalizer, but he shot over the empty goal.
