Parents fear for her life if she stops

But the diagnosis itself did not clear the way. There was still no treatment to pick up in the Danish healthcare system. Only when the family itself was about to take the case abroad did a doctor from Holbæk Hospital called. He wanted to help them – with Wegovy.

The slimming medicine, otherwise reserved for adults, was given to Lily after half a year of documented dietary discipline. And the results were significant: the weight basket, which before shot up, is now flattened out. H.

Our Lily previously gained seven kilos over a quarter, the weight today is almost stable.

But with the medicine no peace comes. Judging eyes are still hitting the family – especially when they enter a McDonald’s. Here the mother knows that they are being assessed. So she takes the talk herself, explains Lily’s illness and tells how serious it can be:

« If Lily hadn’t arrived at medicine, she would potentially weigh about 280 kilos when she turned 18. She would look like one of the Americans you look at TLC that can’t do anything. »

Lily gets no reimbursement for the medicine. The family pays DKK 1,800 each month. But for them it is an investment in the future – both for the daughter and the community. For the alternative would be a life of aids, admissions and early retirement. The parents chose action instead.
