Over 80 killed after escalation of Israeli air strikes

Israeli air strikes across the Gaza belt are said to have caused the deaths of 81 people and wounding many others at night.

Palestinian news agency WAFA said most victims were women and children.

Quoting doctors, Wafa reported that more than 20 people were killed and about 100 others were injured during an attack on the Al-Mawas area in South Gaza.

Israeli forces allegedly hit the tents that housed displaced persons.

These reports cannot be confirmed independently.

The Israeli army said in response to the investigation that it is investigating the incident.

WAFA reported numerous deadly attacks in different areas of the coastal enclave.

Israeli’s army announced on Friday that it was intensifying its pressure on Islamist Hamas group, which still holds dozens of hostages.

Israeli authorities said plans include occupying and taking over the territory, along with the displacement of hundreds of thousands of civilians from north to south of the belt.

Observers are concerned that the new offensive – will cause much more death in the coastal belt, where people live in catastrophic conditions.
