The National Food Authority has reacted after news published in the media that salmonella pork was sold in secret. This institution calls this news untrue and clarifies that it is 4,516.75 kg of pork fillets, which were blocked on January 28, 2025 after the Salmonella SP contamination is found through laboratory analyzes. According to the NFA, the quantity of meat remained trapped in the storage of the importing entity until April 16, when the company officially requested its annihilation with the competent authorities, including the National Territorial Protection Inspectorate, the Tirana Regional Tax Directorate and the AKU Regional Directorate of Tirana.

Communication to the AKU public:

The National Food Authority in the context of public information and transparency expresses concern over the spread of untrue news published in some media and portals regarding food safety.

AKU explains public opinion that the amount of 4516, 75 kg of pork fillet imported from Brazil, was blocked by this authority on 28.1.2025, following reports reported, which resulted in Salmonella spp.

Based on this fact, the amount of pork fillet meat has remained in the warehouses of the importing entity, by 16.4.2025, when the importing entity has applied for annihilation, competent authorities such as: National Territorial Protection Inspectorate (Directorate of Water Environment), Tirana Regional Tax Directorate.

We assure consumers that the quantity of 4516, 75 kg of pork fillet is destroyed in the presence of all representatives of the competent authorities mentioned above.

The National Food Authority is in full readiness to guarantee food safety, protecting consumer health.
