Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said today that Ukraine’s possible EU accession, which is insisted by Brussels and the opposition Tisa, will jeopardize the development of Hungary.

– Our country faces a serious threat: Ukraine’s entry into the EU. This danger is over our head. Yesterday in Brussels a package was presented to accelerate Ukraine’s accession to the EU. If that happens, all the money of the Hungarians will have to be spent on our eastern neighbor-Orban said at the opening of the last section of the M-44 highway.

He noted that « not only will EU funds belong to Hungary, but even the Hungarian budget money will end up in Kiev, so nothing will be built for a long time, let alone a road, » Hungarian Nemzet reports.

Orban called on the Hungarian people in a referendum to express their opinion on Ukraine’s accession to the EU.

– In the coming years this issue of Ukraine’s membership in the European Union will be the most important issue in Hungarian politics. The positions are clear: Brussels and the Tisa party are for Ukraine’s membership, and we, national forces, are against it – Orban said.

According to him, Brussels wants a pro -Ukrainian government in Hungary to meet Kiev’s demands. « It refers to the Brussels-Tisa Pact. Brussels helps endanger the economic development of the Hungarians with the support of the Tisa party, which, in turn, supports Ukraine’s membership and economic and military aid to Ukraine, » he said.

Orban stressed that a new era in Hungarian politics began in recent days, and « Brussels and Tisa openly admit that their goal is to destroy the Hungarian standard of living. »

– They want and work our country to fail … We will not allow that to happen, we will make Hungary successful, no matter how much they try to throw our country out of the way. It is a great fight, they must stop with Ukraine. It’s a big task, but we’re not afraid – said the Hungarian prime minister.
