Opposition warns against the protection of human rights

European industry has been moaning for several years in view of the requirements that the EU imposes in terms of human rights, climate and environmental protection in terms of human rights. In particular, the supply chain law was criticized because it is less competitive. The new EU Commission listened and under the term “omnibus” brought an initiative to soften these requirements under the keyword of the administrative simplification and to move their entry backwards.

The LSAP MP and former Economic Minister Franz Fayot criticized the advance on Thursday in the Chamber. The supply chain law, which should actually ensure that human rights and child labor from the supply chains of European companies, has become a « toothless tiger », said Fayot. « It's all about competitiveness. » He referred to 15 Luxembourg NGOs who had severe criticism of the initiative. In a motion, he asked the government to face the « bus package » at the EU level.
