Opposition brokes the speech of the premier and the government’s social policy

It is a well -practiced routine: the head of government uses his speech on the state of the nation to put your own work in the right light and to put some programmatic plants for the coming year. The opposition then uses the next day to pick the lecture of the Prime Minister according to all the rules of art in the chamber. This time, the government’s social policy in the crosshair was above all, especially on the proposals for pension reform, the MPs did not leave good hair.

LSAP sees a « deterioration of the generation contract »

After Luc Frieden’s speech, in which direction the government is going to go, according to Taina Bofferding (LSAP). « What the Prime Minister introduced us clearly shows that the social dismantling and weakening of our solidarity pension system are the goal of the announced reform, » said the LSAP parliamentary group president.

Instead of offering targeted help for those who run the risk of getting into old -age poverty, one should work for a structural solution that increases the minimum pension by 300 euros. « It is clear: the years of contributions are gradually extended, and it is above all the young people who are affected. It is a clear deterioration in the generation contract, » Bofferding regretted.

The socialist also wondered what concrete measures the government took to combat poverty in Luxembourg, and emphasized that the person concerned had to be offered a perspective to improve their situation. « Hopefully the announced plan will structurally combat poverty and not only keep alive with alms. » On the subject of apartments, the LSAP demands: « The government must finally switch to crisis mode and set the right priorities. Vacancy and rental prices must finally be recorded. »

ADR: Money for defense will be missing in other places

According to the ADR parliamentary group leader Fred Keup, a vision lacked a vision in Frieden’s speech what the Luxembourg government should look like in 50 years. Instead, peace has carried out its upgrade plans for a long time. « We dare to doubt whether it is the topic of what the Luxembourg enthusiasts throws enthusiastically, » says Keup.

The ADR supports an « operational army », but the money that is now to flow into defense by the end of the year will be missing in other places. « How do you want to explain this to people who have no longer have to have money or have to go abroad for months to afford an apartment? »

As so often, Keup spoke against the vision of a one-million-inhabitant state. Luxembourg led the population growth into a « growth trap ». The main cause « almost all of our problems » can be found in it. Keup also bothered that peace did not say a word about the Luxembourg language or about the traffic situation in the country.

Peace was still able to harvest a sympathy point at the ADR. In his speech he spoke of a « migration policy with heart and mind ». The ADR had spread exactly the same wording in 2015 at the time of the refugee crisis.

Déi Gréng: « Social Ronn » as an alibi event

Sam Tanson, leader of Déi Gréng parliamentary group, accused the government of lack of transparency, social step backwards and ideologically motivated deregulation. In particular, she criticized the brittle social dialogue that such a conflict with the unions as currently has not occurred in recent decades. She described the « Social Ronn » with union representatives as a pure « alibi event ». Measures such as the extended Sunday work are « liberalism op steroids, » says Tanson. « The strongest decide, the rest should join and that is also sold as freedom. »

The pension reform, as announced by peace, also feels the Greens as socially unfair – especially for the boys. Instead of relieving the « factor of work », the government ask the employees for the pension to the cash register – with a longer working time. « What is generational? » Asks Tanson.

While the basic pension is not increased, better earning earners will continue to benefit from additional pensions funded by tax. The rededication of CO₂ tax for pension financing also keeps you climate policy and socially very questionable.

Déi lénk throw peace beautiful speaking

When Marc Baum from Déi Lénk heard about Luc Frieden, he thought that he would « live in another country, no, in another world ». The fact that the government had « stopped » the construction crisis at least did not notice the Déi Lénk MP, he ironically said towards the government bank.

Baum says that the government had also delivered when fighting poverty is a statement, says Baum. The promised national action plan against poverty « is repeatedly moved to a new Mokuchsdaag », criticizes the left-wing MP.

The successful expansion of renewable energies in 2024, with which « Peace on Tuesday » praised, was ultimately only due to the fact that the government had reduced the funding for solar systems and that many households therefore had an installation at the last moment.

The CSV/DP government has split society as before, Baum believes. With its « destabilization », black and blue « fueled fears » and thus created the « breeding ground for rights, chauvinists and fascists ».

The pirates lack concrete plans

« Beautiful pictures, many words, but little substance »: This is how Sven Clement, MP of the Pirates, describes the speech of the Prime Minister. This remains unconcrete in most subject areas.

The Pirate Party’s deputy questions how Luxembourg could finance NATO’s two percent target until the end of the year. A military budget of two percent corresponds to 1.5 billion euros, according to Clement.

The Pirate Party’s MP also critically sees the question of Sunday work and complains about the procedure of Minister of Labor Georges Mischo (CSV) when developing a corresponding legal text. Mischo pushed the unions out of his head. « It is almost grotesque when the prime minister has to use his speech on the situation of the nation to clean up the shards that the labor minister caused, » said Clement.

Clement also criticizes how the Prime Minister spoke in his speech about the government’s social policy. « The prime minister presents his social policy as a policy of justice. However, if you look behind the facade, the picture looks different. » The Pirate MP also criticizes the plans for pension reform. « What the prime minister announced yesterday sounds like a larger social step backwards: work longer without receiving an appropriate pension. »

CSV: Modernization of the social dialogue

Sunday work, discussions about the collective contracts: Marc Spautz (CSV) does not want to look in the rear -view mirror, but look ahead. « A modernization through concrete, pragmatic steps in dialogue with our social tradition. I am behind this approach, » emphasized Spautz on Wednesday in parliament.

The social rounds organized by Luc Frieden would show that this is not a symbolic policy. These meet, if not publicly, made it possible to search for compromises and solutions without the pressure of cameras and microphones, said Spautz.

The middle path leads through the functioning social dialogue, which is important for social peace and cohesion. « I stand by my beliefs and my conscience, » said the former LCGB trade unionist.

The CSV parliamentary group president welcomes the fact that the retirement age remains 65 years and there was a wide consumption in the consultation process. « Physically exhausting professions should continue to receive the recognition they earn, » emphasized Spautz.

The LSAP then wanted to know what the possible pension reform could look like and asked him about the effects of this reform on the early and the early retirement. Mars di Bartolomeo criticized that the Minister of Social Affairs took part in the pensioner, but the decisions had already been made from above.

« I am neither a government spokesman nor a member of the government, » said Spautz. He explained that all of these questions in a social commission would be clarified with the responsible minister before the summer.

The DP relies on more efficient procedures

Using the example of the Ukrainian journalist Viktoria Roschina, who was tortured and died in Russian imprisonment, DP parliamentary group leader Gilles Baum drew attention to the military violence of Russia, but also the targeted suppression of human rights and freedom of the press.

« Luxembourg is a small country, but we have a voice, we have medium and we have a responsibility, » said Baum. And had clear words: « It is not just about ammunition and machines, but about the defense of values ​​that we see as the basic understanding of our society: freedom of the press, human rights, freedom and diversity of opinion. » The significant increase in defense investments saw Baum as a « realistic and courageous adaptation to the real threats ».

If Prime Minister Luc Frieden had already addressed the lengthy approval process for wind power projects on Tuesday, Baum found clear words: « Our neighboring countries show that there is another way ». This requires clear criteria as well as transparent and efficient procedures. The DP therefore welcomes the fact that a catalog of measures should be presented shortly.

The national plan against poverty has not yet been completed, but Gilles Baum has already given the first details. In the future, it will be ensured that everyone can afford a room in a nursing home. For this purpose, the contribution to the « Accueil Gérontologique » is increased and additional contributions are created for previously unexpected ones. With regard to the pension reform, Baum emphasized that the DP follows the announced measures.
