Opinion | One homeless mother with two children, a hundred employees: it helps nothing

Last year I was busy with a homeless mother with two children. Everywhere we knocked on for help, we were sent away. Last week I studied her municipal and legal files. In fact, there are more than a hundred, but here I stopped counting.

One hundred employees. A hundred salaries. A hundred people busy, but it doesn’t help anything.

Dozens of civil servants were busy writing reports about her ‘self -reliance’, so that she had to figure it out herself. And when she couldn’t handle it anymore, she was classified as ‘not cooperating’. But Triage is not an answer to structural failing policy.

Fundamental rights are violated: a government should not hide behind all kinds of different auxiliary boxes and authorities.
