Open artist Elina Vagre’s solo exhibition at level / day

This is the fourteenth exhibition of the Latvian Academy of Arts (LAA) and the design hotels Grand Poet In a long -term collaboration aimed at supporting young artists and creating Grand Poet Art Collection – a collection of art of their era, which is represented by talented and promising young Latvian artists.

Elīna Viable, a master student at the LAA Painting Department, focuses on the water level theme as a symbolic border between the known and unknown. The artist’s works, created in carbon technique, balance on the border between painting and drawing – they are poetic, intuitively and driven by personal experience.

« We live above the level-above the ground and water, where everything we know and understand. But as soon as we dive under the level, the questions begin. I am interested in this boundary line between what is visible and the predictable. « These works came from the thought of Laukezer near my childhood home. It is a place where the water has absorbed memories, both clear and concrete, and those who feel only at the level of feelings and moods. »

The artist does not only see water as a physical element – she sees it as an archetype, which reflects the subconscious layers and the inner world of the human being. The works show fragmented impressions – shadow, wet skin, sudden movement, white voids that become silent zones. The viewer is invited to fill these squares with their own experience and memories.

Curator Agnese Kurzemniece, LMA Master’s Program Curatorial Study Student, emphasizes: “Elina’s poetic work resembles a dream moments or a reflection of the subconscious. They do not shout, but speak in a peaceful, intuitive language. deep. ”

Elīna emphasizes that her work is not clearly explained – they are designed as an open space where the viewer can bring his or her feelings, thoughts and experiences, allowing each job to gain personal importance.

Grand Poet Manager Maris Alnis on cooperation with the LAA: “We are pleased with the Latvian Academy of Arts, which allows us to provide the platform for new talents and to follow their first important steps in the art world.
