Throughout Flanders, on average, only half of all buses and trams will run through the general strike on Monday. On the track, half of the IC trains and thirds of the local and suburban trains will run. The line and the NMBS report this on Saturday.
According to De Lijn, four in ten buses and trams will ride on Monday in the province of Antwerp. In East Flanders that is two thirds, in Flemish Brabant half, in Limburg four in ten and half in West Flanders. A quarter of buses and trams run in Antwerp city, in Ghent that is 45 percent. Only three in ten coastal trams also run.
At the De Lijn app stop and line pages on the website and the App can currently only be seen the journeys that will be on Monday. Rides that do not drive are no longer shown.
There will also be sensitive fewer trains. The NMBS and Infrabel railway companies have worked out an alternative train service, based on the staff who have announced that they will work. Travelers can consult that scheme from Sunday morning via the online travel planner, the NMBS said on Saturday.
Half of the trains between the big cities, the IC trains, will ride on Monday. With the local trains (L-trains) and suburban S-trains, that is one in three. There are few peaky trains (P-trains), which reinforce the range during the morning and evening rush hour. The P-student trains on Sunday evening drive as normal.
NMBS advises its travelers to prepare their journey well and regularly consult the online travel planner via the app or website. From Sunday morning it will show the alternative train service for Monday.
At the Railways there has been a nuisance throughout the week by an action by the independent railway union MetisProtect. On Sunday evening, it will flow into a 24-hour strike of the Great Spoorbonden ACOD Spoor and ACV transcom, following a national strike on 31 March.
