– Why did you increase the benefit?

– Because times are changing, the value of the euro is changing and the ability to express gratitude.

– It will not change the demographic situation and you agree with it. So what is the purpose then?

– The goal is apparently an act of gratitude. We are delighted with every child born in Kazlų Rūda municipality, no matter how many of them are born. We do not plan to interfere with family planning or indicate when the family should increase. For example, in Vilnius or Kaunas, every child may not be counted, but small municipalities do so.

– Last year, 88 babies were born in your municipality. How many people do you have at all?

– The official population is about 11 thousand. But it must be borne in mind that some families move out, others get up. So far, we have been able to maintain a stable number of students. This year we are planning a meeting on the number of children in the gymnasium. Although we are still following, this does not mean that we can close our eyes and do nothing.

– Is additional funding needed to give birth to more children? Or maybe it helps families who already have children already?

« We probably didn’t see a family or a person who, after receiving a legitimate and reasoned gift, not just the financial, would say, » Thank you, you don’t need to.  » The amount allocated by our municipality does not solve all problems, but it is an incentive and attitude we share. There are different incentives, but when a child is born, we are talking about such.

– It is important that schools are equally good to have kindergartens, health services, circles. Are such services in Kazlų Rūda?

-This year, Kazlų Rūda no longer has a lack of children’s kindergartens. We accept children from the age of one year, and from 1 September next year, with the opening of a new body in our largest kindergarten building, we will have as many as 80 seats. So – Welcome to Kazlų Rūda!

– How to correct the demographic crisis in Lithuania? Do you have a solution?

– As a mayor, I have no solution because it is a matter of state policy. However, I have repeatedly offered a five -year relief on personal income tax to anyone returning to Lithuania from emigration if they have gone for more than a year. It is clear that for five years, without paying PIT, but paying other taxes, such people would still contribute to the country’s economy. Let’s say if 100,000 were returned. people, they alone would be made in five years of $ 100 million. tax profit. These cannot be empty words for expats that come back, everything will be fine here.

There are specific suggestions needed. After all, people have gone for economic reasons and if we want them to come back with their children, who often lose their citizenship, we need to act. Time is going and the state has to find specific tax offers. That is why I also mention personal income tax, because when the returning person is spending on it, he pays VAT, excise duties and prohibitions. But this is the work of state politicians.

– There was a time when many people left Lithuania. Do you have data on how many people left Kazlų Rūda?

– There are no exact numbers, but according to the general trends – birth rates, mortality, departure – it should be noted that the population has decreased from about 15,000 since the beginning of independence. up to 11 thousand.
