One and only Ferrari F40 comes out on the hammer
It was released in 1987 to celebrate Ferrari’s 40th anniversary, the F40 was the latest model that Enzo Ferrari was personally approved.
In his heart lies a 2.9-liter V-8-liter engine with a dual turbocharged 471 hpwrapped in a kevlar shell, carbon fiber and NOMEX composite materials. There was no luxury. Not even stereo. Not even carpets. Not even internal handles on the doors – just a traction cord. It weighed just over 2,400 pounds and reached 60 miles/h in about four seconds.
It was the fastest, most powerful and more expensive Ferrari ever built. Long, low, wide and extremely functional, the F40 looks like it was designed in a feverish dream.
This unique color will come out on the hammer from RM Sotheby’s auction house in Monterey, USA, on August 15-16, with the estimated sale price ranging from $ 2,500,000 to $ 2,800,000.
