On Tuesday twentieth strike day of the year on the track: « Strike load becomes unbearable »

During a new track strike on Tuesday, two in the five IC trains, three out of five L and S trains and four in the five P trains will not run. The NMBS says that.

The strike action, where five trade unions are behind, will start on Monday at 10 pm and will walk until 10 pm on Tuesday. « Based on the staff that has indicated that they will work, an alternative train service has been worked out, » the NMBS reports in a press release.

It will be the twentieth strike day this year at the track. Initially she only went out of the large trade unions ACOD Spoor and ACV transcom, but later the VSOA Spoor, OVS and ASTB unions also joined. The unions protest against the plans of the De Wever government, in particular around the pension and the savings at the NMBS.

« Unbearable »

Despite a reconciliation meeting on 2 April, the five trade union organizations decided to maintain the strike on Tuesday. « The managements of HR Rail, Infrabel and NMBS regret this action and the fact that the traveler is again the victim of this conflict, » it says. “After all, the strike will be unbearable for travelers, the work -willing and many other economic and social actors”

Specifically, three will run on the five IC trains on Tuesday. Those are the trains between the big cities. In addition, two in five L and sub-city S-trains also run. There are few P-trains (one in five). These are the trains that normally only run during the morning and evening rush hour.

Due to a partial effect of the Infrabel signal house in Namur, no train will be able to run in the Ottignies region from Monday 10 pm to Tuesday. « It is about the lines between Namur, Gembloux, Ottignies and Watermaal, between Ottignies, Waver and Sint-Joris-Weert and between Ottignies and Fleurus. »

International train traffic

There is also an impact for international train traffic. For example, a number of ICE trains between Cologne and Brussels will not run, just like a number of Eurostar trains between Brussels and Paris. A number of trains to and from the Netherlands (Eurocity and Eurocity Direct) will not run either. Eurostar expects normal traffic between Brussels and London.

The alternative train service for Tuesday will be visible from Monday morning in the online travel planner, via the NMBS app.
