The event in Ljubljana will be marked in the coming days in the celebration marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation and holiday of the City of Ljubljana. It will all start on Thursday, when the 67th event will be eliminated by children from Ljubljana kindergartens, on Friday, elementary school students and students will go to the hike, and on Saturday the traditional troika run will be held, this time at 12.5 kilometers and 20 kilometers.
According to words Barbara Železnik, Director of Timingo Ljubljana, about 40,000 participants are expected this year, which is more than last year, when around 37,000 people attended the most massive and largest sports and recreational event in our country. The Path along the wire is held along the nearly 35 -kilometer route around Ljubljana, where Italian occupiers erected a barbed wire fence during the Second World War, together with more than a hundred bunkers. “This year we have about 200 registered triples more than last year, and maybe because we shortened the route from 29 to 20 kilometers. About 8,500 children are registered for Thursday’s hike, and almost 17,500 elementary students and students will attend the hike on Friday. Saturday’s event can be signed on to the day of the event, « explained Barbara Železnik.
There are quite a few novelties
Among this new feature, Železnikova highlighted the preparation of a picture book for the children of the Dragons, a challenge published by Timing Ljubljana, the Škrateljc Institute and the City of Ljubljana. In a picture book that was created with the help of a writer Uroša Grilc and the illustrator Marko Renkathey connect values such as companionship, exercise and perseverance. « In this way, we urge children to cultivate these values, » says Železnikova. All schools and kindergartens in Ljubljana have already received these booklets free of charge and are available in their libraries. This year’s cardboard for children will also be different, as children can make the hike along the entire route. A single card, which is no longer separated to a longer and shorter distance, was also prepared for older hikers. On Saturday, the entry points will be opened at six in the morning.
Running triplets at 12.5 kilometers will start on Saturday at 8.45 and at 20 kilometers at 9.30. The goal will be at the Congress Square in the center of the capital. The troika must run the entire route from start to destination together, and only members of the same troika can provide help. Running triplets for elementary schools and for secondary schools with a start at the Oscar Kovačič Primary School in Galjevica, at 8.45 for secondary schools, at 8.55 for elementary schools and at 9.05 for professors. Saturday’s announcement and awards ceremony for the first three teams in the absolute category will be on the central stage at the Congress Square at 11.30. The accompanying program will feature a partisan choir at 10.30, and choirs from Ljubljana elementary schools will be sung at noon.
Hike without waste
According to Barbara Železnik, this time will also be 67. The event without waste, so they urge all participants to have their own cans or bottles of water on the hike, as they will be able to pour drinking water on all already operating drinkers. The number of refreshments have also increased, and there will be five this year. The smartphone app will also work, which means that participants can also go with the application along the path of occupied Ljubljana, and all those who have made several hikes can take a five or ten hiking medal at Timingo Ljubljana headquarters. « There will be no major traffic prisons in the capital due to an event from Thursday to Saturday, and there will be no changed city passenger transport line, » said Barbara Železnik.
