On amendments to the Labor Law / Day
Discussions have been a four -working day week for years. Several well -known companies have experimented with a four working day week and their results were different. This clearly shows that there are industries and companies that have a four working day week, but there are also industries and companies where such an approach does not produce the desired result. This is also evidenced by the fact that in Belgium, where the law has the opportunity to work four working days a week for employees, only about 1% of employees have chosen it and about 3% of companies have introduced it to some employees.
Our company employees work in a flexible operating mode, allowing part of the time to spend part in the office and part remotely, at home or even abroad. This approach allows employees to better plan their time and job tasks while promoting a healthier balance between professional and private life. Customer centers, on the other hand, do not have this opportunity, as their work is directly related to customer service, which means that their working hours are matched to the working time and other external factors. However, centers do not have to work for five consecutive days and have the opportunity to match their work schedule with the manager, providing some flexibility in this model of work as well. It should be emphasized that we have just as many employees as we need to successfully carry out all the necessary processes in the current operating mode and provide quality products and services.
In my opinion, the internal culture of organizations – its values, efficiency and the specifics of the industry – are more important than four working days a week. A modern and flexible approach not only helps to ensure the balance of private and professional life, but also allows you to achieve business goals.
The same applies to the idea of shortening the working week for up to 38 hours. For example, our company already stipulates that the working hours of the week do not exceed 40 hours, which also allows for the manager to stop working earlier in agreement with the manager. At Christmas, we give our employees extra holidays.
After all, employees’ goodness largely depends on the attitude of the organization itself and employees. If the organization wants to be successful, it will think about creating an internal culture where employees would feel satisfied, because it is the employees’ satisfaction that is the prerequisite for achieving the organization’s business goals.
