OM wants to purchase more than 221 million in criminal capacity from ‘Bolle Jos’


The Public Prosecution Service wants to expropriate 221.7 million euros in assets of the Brabant drug criminal Jos Leijdekkers, better known as ‘Bolle Jos’. That reports the OM Monday. It is a record: Never, the judiciary claims such a large amount from a convicted criminal.

Last year, Leijdekkers was sentenced by the court in Rotterdam to 24 years in prison for his involvement in six drug transports, an armed robbery in Finland, and ordering a liquidation. Justice sees Leijdekkers « as one of the protagonists in the international cocaine trade. »

De Brabander himself was not present in his trial: he has been on the run for a long time. At the end of last year, journalists from the Ad and Follow the Money That Leijdekkers is hiding in Sierra Leone and has warm ties with the national government there.

In order to arrive at the demanded amount, the OM bases, among other things, on the value of a total of fourteen drug transports, in which Leijdekkers invested more than 114 million euros according to the judiciary. In addition, encrypted messages would have shown that the drug boss bought expensive watches, real estate and at least 975 kilos of gold. With current market prices, that amount of gold is worth 91 million euros.
