Oil tanker caught fire after collision with cargo ship off the coast of England, 'more than twenty injured'

Around 10 o'clock this morning an oil tanker and a cargo ship crashed off the coast of East Yorkshire in England. The British broadcaster BBC Reports that the oil tanker is on fire and shares images of heavy smoke. More than thirty people have now been brought to the coast, more than twenty were injured, the BBC writes. Some crew members are still missing.

Royal Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) rescue service reports to the British broadcaster that both ships seem to be on fire and that several people have already left the ships. Rescue teams have since been pulled out from the region, the BBC reports.

It seems to be about the oil tanker Stena Immaculate, which sails under the American flag, and the Portuguese cargo ship Solong,,  » that was on the way to Rotterdam from Scotland. The Stena Immaculate came from Greece and was anchored off the coast of Hull, probably waiting for the ship to sail the Humber River to Kingston Upon Hull.

The BBC writes that the Stena Immaculate is one of ten oil tankers who are part of a government program from the United States. Those ten ships can use the Americans to provide fuel for troops in the case of an armed conflict. It is still unclear whether the Stena Immaculate was on the road at the time of the collision.
