Of the red carnations of the rods – the statements of Russian propaganda
Imported justification
On May 9, there were many carnations in Kaunas, the cemetery of the High Šančiai soldiers. The flowers adorned all the memorial or tombstones that announce that the Red Army soldiers were buried here.
There were also flower rings on tombstones with the names of four communars (a monument to them was dismantled on Kaunas Vytautas Avenue a few years ago).
There were small circles of people with flowers and candles between the tombstones.
« How can I not mention today if seven people from my tribe were killed, » said Valentina from Kaunas.
When asked what she was thinking about Russian aggression against Ukraine, a Kaunas woman said that a barrel was built on the Russian border.
« They sent NATO at the door all. Built a barrel. It was necessary to wait for it to be blown up? We had to wait for aggression to begin? » – Repeated the Kremlin’s hammer in the Russian head of Kaunas.
Virgis, a Kaunas resident who brought flowers to the graves of the soldiers, said he came to honor ordinary soldiers, whose will and wishes are not dependent.
« I fought in Afghanistan myself and I know the life of an ordinary soldier. What to do for a soldier if the dictator Putin commands? » – said Virgis.

New occupation
The so -called Victory Day and the entry of the Red Army to Lithuania meant a new occupation of the country and the suffering of the people.
After Lithuania regained its independence, May 9 became a day of higher tension, when it seeks to express the part of the occupation or dream of Russians’ return and Russian special services.
The State Security Department (SSD) noted that in recent months the radical rhetoric directed by the Kremlin regime and propagandists against Lithuania and other Baltic States has been strengthened in recent months. In addition, there has been an increase in open calls for military aggression against the Baltic States.
The likelihood of provocations
According to Lithuanian intelligence, provocations and information operations aim to incite fear and panic in society, and to promote mistrust of state decisions and the work of institutions.
The SSD noted that the Russian invasion of Ukraine was even in the case of the Russian intelligence service diversions and vandalism attacks on Lithuania during the Victory Day.
It was during this period that the information attacks directed against Lithuania, where Russian intelligence operations attempted were to be presented as Lithuanian’s self -employed actions, fake news about the alleged repression of law enforcement against the residents of Lithuania on the Day of Victory Day.
Against statehood
As the 9th of May, when Victory Day is celebrated in Russia, socialists announced the Lithuanian history book published in Russia.

The monograph « History of Lithuania » was published by a collective of nine authors, including Russian historian and propagandist Alexander Diukov. It was included in Lithuania in the country’s list of unwanted persons. The introductory word of the publication was written by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, and among the authors, Giedrius Grabauskas, a fellow Algirdas Paleckis fellow Algirdas Paleckis, was mentioned among the authors.
Foreign Minister Kęstutis Budrys considers this book a hostile measure to question statehood and justify imperialism against neighboring states.
