The movement of the flu during the current season is within the expected compared to the previous seasons.

During the current season, with the thirteen weeks, due to the flu and its complications, a total of 2033 patients were hospitalized (during the same period of last year 1414), 132 of which on intensive treatment units (during the same period of last season 119).

With the flu season, the so -called so -called excess death or increased number of deaths compared to the number of deaths out of the side of the flu. This is a consequence of the fact that the flu is in certain risk groups such as people aged 65 and older and chronic patients regardless of age, more often accompanied by complications and mortal outcomes.

It is difficult to say how really a person dies directly or, the more often, indirectly than the flu (as a result of deteriorating the underlying disease or complications, such as pneumonia or sepsis).

During this season, 63 deaths have been reported so far because of the flu and its complications.

According to the National Reference Center for the Flu for the Croatian Institute of Public Health at the 13th week, there are about 13 % of positive samples on the flu, detecting both of the influenza A (A/H1N1PDM09 and A/H3N2) and the flu virus B.
