More than 200,000 spectators

The day before the anniversary; On Saturday, June 14th, they will celebrate the round anniversary of the musical in Križanke, as it is for Work said the producer Yuri Frankoa former ski ace, more than 200,000 spectators so far. The musical was last staged in 2019, and then they were stopped by the pandemic. And even though they thought they had already completed the musical, Frank did not give peace, it seemed to him that there was still a lot of life in him. « I encouraged the participants to reawaken the musical, but some were initially restrained, saying that it was a little surviving and that they no longer have that energy to jump on stage. » But this is far from true, said Franko. On the occasion of the 10th anniversary, the whole team is just as excited and energetic as it was at the very beginning. We are now creating even more energy. The performance, meanwhile, sat down, the replicas have become more juicy, fun, people are used to each other, the play team is excited, and visitors recognize it, appreciate it. «

Slovenian text

As a producer, Franko initially fought very much to stay in the original. That is to say, they would stay in English, knowing that most of the songs of the band ABBA are able to sing in English, at least the refrain of the biggest hits. “But the owners of the rights for songs insisted. I was fortunate that Domicelj had extremely transmitted this song. As he said himself, it is actually more difficult to translate than writing the original. You have no place to write some content in your own way, but you have to stick to the text and content. It was nice to say that the art of translation is that the song sounds like an original from afar, but in fact it is in your language. A typical example is the song « Money, Money, Money », which he translated into « me, me, ». To me, the rich world smiles, which sounds from afar as « Money, Money, Money ». This is one of the ingenious solutions he has found. It is important to maintain the message of the song as in the original because the poems are part of the story, « he is for Work illustrated by Franko.

And it turned out that the authors were right when they insisted on Slovene, as people understood the songs in its entirety. They understood what it was about, as the songs are an integral part of the story, he said. “The Slovenes took this musical as their own. We were also praised by those who had the opportunity to see musicals in London, New York and elsewhere. They came to ours with a certain skepticism, but then they honestly said that they liked our musical even more than the original version in London or New York. This is something I can’t dispute. The production succeeded, the combination of actors, singers, dancers, directing, choreography, music – all counts. This is ours now. No more « Mamma Mia! » from Sweden and England, but it’s « mamma mia! » From Slovenia, « was a picturesque Franko.

A story that also attracts a male audience

Franko explained that it was Mamma Mia! It became a world hit, it was a surprise. Critics did not announce some special options in 1999. Many also do not know that the film was made after stage stage.

People obviously took this story for their own, according to Franko: “The story of a single mother on a romantic Greek island, who is spending day by day with her little tavern, and of course raises her daughter, who has a very unusual story behind her. He doesn’t know who her father is, and so you have this formula that can be put into two sentences. Any show you can describe in two sentences is a formula for success. This is a mother, daughter, three possible fathers and a walk to the altar that you will never forget. This is actually all you need to know. This complication, of course, is romantic, even nostalgic. «

That is why the story attracts mommies and daughters who go home from home over a period of time. And this is their moment in the show, say the moment between mother and daughter, when the daughter is reporting and her mother realizes that she will leave and remember the times when she was still a little girl. “It pulls a lot of morbidity behind it and many tears come among viewers. What is interesting to me is that they have taken it for their own men, which is more musical, if I can say, a genre that may be more interested in a woman’s audience, but that men go to watch him with such enthusiasm is obviously a lucky formula of three men who were with one woman and happened to have come to a child, who is not known. So the complication and the unfolding at the end is interesting and fun for everyone. In Slovenia, well, and especially in Slovenia, we get comments from men, including our friends, who say, « Alas, when you play again, I can’t wait to go watch Mamma Mio!, Because when I go watch it, then I am then three days of goodwill. » And that’s something that impresses us. «
