It was a shock. Nuno Guerreiro, vocalist of the Valentine Wing band, died on April 17, at 52, a victim of septicemia, a widespread infection that evolves very fast and intensely. According to his agent, Manuel Moura dos Santos, the singer had already begun to give signs of poor unwilling on April 14, and on the morning of the 17th was admitted to the São Francisco Xavier Hospital in Lisbon, where he died. It is not yet known what motivated the infection.

The news was advanced by the mayor of Loulé, Vítor Aleixo, where the musician was natural. «Nuno Guerreiro died. We are destroyed, ”wrote the mayor in the publication caption. The House decreed a day of municipal mourning, with the funeral ceremonies to be held on Tuesday and Wednesday.

A striking voice

Born on September 5, 1972, at the age of 16 Nuno Guerreiro moved to the capital to follow his own way. Always with music in mind, he studied at the National Conservatory Dance School, where he also graduated in lyrical corner. His voice left a mark in Portuguese culture, mainly because he was the head of the front of the Banda dos Valentine, founded in 1993, with João Gil, João Monk and Manuel Paulo, highlighting themes such as the kiss, Lisbon Crazy or Suns hunter.

Nuno Guerreiro also released solo albums, such as Love Letter (1999), produced in Japan by Akira Senju, and I try to know (2002), which featured other big names in Portuguese music, such as Sara Tavares and Rui Veloso.

In 2018, the Bando dos Valentine band celebrated 25 years of career, with a special concert in Loulé, bringing together several guest artists.

More recently, the singer had been on stage with the band of the Philharmonic Society Artists of Minerva, Loulé, who brought together musicians Ricardo J. Martins, João Palma, Vítor Bacalhau and Vasco Moura. It was really in this project, and with these musicians, that Nuno Guerreio would give his last concerts, on March 30 and 31, at Cineteatro Louletano. « It’s so much pride, it’s so much happiness that I’m still a little asleep and waking up from a dream! » Wrote the musician, in his last Instagram publication.
