The works on the bridge have been busy for a while, which already closed a lane at that location. On Tuesday morning the police closed an extra lane. « Work is currently underway on the bridge over the E40, where the Tervuursesteenweg runs, » says the Roads and Traffic Agency for Flemish Brabant. « An asbestos remediation is currently taking place. The floor plate of the bridge started to crumble this morning, causing pieces of concrete to reach the road. »
The Flemish Traffic Center is aware and warns against nuisance in the region. « Everyone who comes from Limburg via the E314 and goes from Liège via the E40 and towards Brussels, has to pass it, creating a bottleneck, » says Peter Bruyninckx of the Flemish Traffic Center. « On both routes, the E314 and the E40, it is about half an hour of traffic jam. »
The team of the AWV is currently on site. « The problem is solved as quickly as possible, but it can certainly take until noon, » the AWV concludes.
