The return of nuclear power to Italy takes another step forward, after the Government go -ahead at the end of February: on May 14 the birth of the new company was announced which will have the task of studying advanced technologies and making the market analysis. It is called « Nuclitalia » and is participated for 51% by Enel, 39% by Ansaldo Energia and 10% by Leonardo. The Board of Directors will be made up of seven members and will be chaired by Ferruccio Rest, former rector of the Polytechnic of Milan.

The CEO will be Luca MastrantonioHead of Enel’s Nuclear Innovation Unit. Nicola Rossi (responsible for Enel are also indicated in the board Enel Green Power and Thermal Generation innovationEnel’s business line that deals with the generation of energy from conventional and renewable sources) and Valentina De Cesare (Executive Assistant to Chief Executive Officer). Ansaldo Energia expressed Daniela Gentile (CEO of Ansaldo Nuclear) and Andrea Benvediti (Senior Vice President Business Development of Ansaldo Energia) while Leonardo indicated Andrea Campora (Managing Director of the Cyber & Security Solutions division of Leonardo).
The Technical Committee
In the coming weeks, a technical committee in charge of supporting the technological analysis of Nuclitalia technological analysis will be establishedwhich will have the task of evaluating the most innovative and mature design of the new sustainable nuclear nuclear power centuries, with an initial focus on the Small Modular Reactor (SMR) cooled with water. The process will include the selection of the most promising solutions on the basis of a technical-economic analysis.
