– Now there will be Sami meeting places in Hammerfest, Loppa and Nordreisa

I am proud that the Sami Parliament has now decided that permanent Sami meeting places should be established in Hammerfest, Loppa and Nordreisa, where there are no offers today. Now the Sami Parliament has decided that these meeting places should be created.

The Sami Parliament has also decided in the decision that we will further develop and strengthen the institutions that exist in Alta, Kvænangen and Nordkapp. It entails a big boost for the framework for the Sami lives in the northern constituency.

Such a meeting place will mean a lot to many, not just the Sami living in Hammerfest, but for everyone living in the city. Children and young people are among those who with this will get the clarification of an anchor point in their own society where the meeting place becomes a heart that knocked continuously and for all the Sami in Hammerfest. Also, everyone who lives in the city and the surrounding and visitors will benefit from this meeting place.

Perhaps the most startling was that someone went on the Sami Parliament’s pulpit and called the Sami in the northern circle of « winners ». They may not have read the comments fields in social media when it comes to, for example, the Sami in Hammerfest.

The seashaps carry on some of the biggest wounds in the research and in my opinion there is very little to indicate that this particular group is « winners of life’s great Samelotteri ».

The NSR and the Sami majority chose to start work in the constituency within the traditional Sami area where there are the fewest Sami offers today. It was the northern constituency. We saw how important it is to do the job right here.

The repair policy cannot happen in the same way as the Norwegian policy, by overriding the Sami in the individual areas. Therefore, it is very important that the Sami Parliament follows up the input that we receive from the Sami population, which we have made with this decision. It is important to strengthen confidence in the Sami Parliament as a system in a people who have low systems after the research.

As president and presidential candidate for NSR, I am very proud that the Sami Parliament has adopted Sami meeting places for Hammerfest, Loppa and Nordreisa, and believe that there will be a good contribution to repair the damage after the research in this area.
