With the proposal, a person who would today be sentenced to three years in prison for rape by violence or threat of violence could expect a prison sentence of four years and six months in prison.
Doubling the penalty for gross violence and extremely serious violence
The level of punishment for serious violence today ranges widely and will usually be from approx. 60 days in prison for three years in prison. A person who would today be sentenced to six months imprisonment for serious violence will in future be able to receive a prison sentence in one year.
