Now the Danes are encouraged to pay special attention
GF Forsikring encourages the Danes to think about their behavior when, for example, they pull out the garden grill.
This is based on the fact that it is currently unusually dry.
This is how GF insurance writes in one press release.
« It is not unusual with periods of drought, but it is unusual for it to come so early in the year. Unlike previous years, in March and April we have received quite a bit of rain, and it causes us to encourage the Danes to think about their behavior already.
It says Damage Manager at GF Forsikring Christian Stubkjær – and he continues:
« Currently, the confirmations are going on across the country-and here it is obvious to have fun with barbecue food and garden fellows when the weather at the same time turns out from its neat side. It is important for us to state that of course one should not refrain from grilling and having fun, but it is important in the current situation to take your precautions such as to put the grill on a non-burning base and away from dry and lightweight. And then of course you have to have water within easy reach. «
According to DMI, the drought index at national level shows an average value of 7.5, which gives an « increased » risk of drought.
DMI’s drought index goes from 0 to 10, where 0 means that the soil is saturated with water and 10 means it is emptied of water.
The current drought level, along with the weather forecasts, indicates a high risk of drought in late May.
Danish water is an effective fire extinguisher
Christian Stubkjær says that you can do a lot to avoid accidents and prevent potential damage when there is long -term drought in view.
« Keep an eye on the wind conditions and have a fire extinguisher or garden hose nearby to turn off any flames. Do not use weed burner in dry and windy conditions, and also be aware that it is off and cooled before you put it from you. And then it is a really good idea to stay updated on the burning ban in the local area, » he says.
Should the accident still be out on the barbecue trip or during gardening with the weed burner, Christian Stubkjær comes with a closing advice on how to effectively put an end to the fire.
« Bring half a liter of Danish water. When you just unscrew the lid, put a thumb for the opening and shake it, it actually acts as an effective fire extinguisher, » he says.
