Bjarni Benediktsson, the outgoing chairman of the Independence Party, said he was satisfied with the decision to step down from the presidency. He says it is right that new leadership is now taking on the party's reins and its policy.

Recently, Bjarni concluded his last sentence at the party's national meeting and the chairman went on a wide field in his speech.

Start the offensive again

Bjarni began the speech that reiterated that the Independence Party had exceeded the expectations that were made to the party in the last election.
