Notorious French gangster and eleven others arrested in our country after failed robbery, two injured in arrest

The French-Italian gangster and 'escape king' Antonio Ferrara has been arrested in our country. French media report and is confirmed by the Paris public prosecutor's office. Together with eleven other suspects, he was arrested by the Belgian authorities, the Brussels public prosecutor confirms.
The Paris public prosecutor did not want to give extensive information, but according to Actu 17 and RTL the notorious Antonio Ferrara (51), three Belgians and four French people were arrested after a failed robbery. However, the public prosecutor's office is talking about the arrest of twelve people. Following the arrests, various house searches were carried out in France and our country. The criminals would have tried to commit a robbery at a value center in Germany on Wednesday evening, which is a place where banks keep their cash.

According to various media, the eight suspects were arrested on Thursday morning in the Rotenbergwijk in Eupen. The Belgian federal police confirm that a member of the DSU, the special units of the federal police, was slightly injured when he was hit by a vehicle of the suspects. The police officer was transferred to the hospital, but has already left it. It is still unclear how long the man will be incapacitated for work. One of the robbers would have been shot.

Escape king
Ferrara, who is known as 'the escape king' after escaping twice from prison, was released in July 2022 from the prison of Réau in northern France after he had served his sentence.
He was born in southern Italy on October 12, 1973 and was already convicted of robberies and an attempted murder, just like for those two escapes. Ferrara was acquitted in three things about robberies on money transport cars in 2009 and a post office in 2012.
Ferrara escaped for the first time from the prison of Fleury-Mérogis, near Paris, in 1998 during a transfer to the hospital. He remained on the run until 2002. On March 12, 2003 he escaped from the prison of Fresnes (Val-de-Marne) with the help of henchmen who were dressed as police officers and attacked the complex with rocket throwers. He was arrested again four months later.
