A month after the PKK founder Öcalan’s call to dissolve the organization, the Turkish President pushes to an end to the prohibited workers’ party in Kurdistan.

A month after the PKK founder, Abdullah Öcalan, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has pushed an end to the forbidden workers’ party in Kurdistan. « We do not have an unlimited time and patience. We expect the organization to dissolve without further delay and completely resign its weapons, » Erdogan said at the beginning of Eid al-Fitr, the Islamic Festival of Fasting after Ramadan.

At the end of February, the founder Abdullah Öcalan called the PKK for resolution. PKK leaders had linked this to Turkey’s consideration. This has repeatedly rejected this since then, as well as a ceasefire that the PKK unilaterally announced.

Experts: Government wants to continue to split opposition

The call had awakened hope for many in Turkey for an end to the conflict that has been going on for decades and a democratization of the country. The arrest of the opposition politician Ekrem Imamoglu has largely destroyed them. Among other things, the pkk’s support is accused of supporting Istanbul. His arrest has triggered strong protest and overthrew the country into one of the most severe political crises.

Some observers assume that the government prospect of setting up the Kurdish conflict that the opposition wants to bring about pro -Kurdish and nationalist camps. Kurdish voters had a central proportion of imamoglus election wins. (APA/dpa)
