Not keep up to up to 1,200 euros / day

Who, after harder work, has not allowed philosophical reflections on how to get money for doing nothing? Not a short -term unemployment benefit, but a regular, sufficient monthly payment.

This idea employs not only laziest or tired workers, but also economists who have even seriously discussed a universal basic incentive for everyone on the planet. The voices of this model’s supporters were particularly loud in the years of pandemic, when many people were not allowed to work and therefore received compensation from the country.

Coveted experiment

The universal basic income theory has also been tried in practice. In the summer of 2021 in Germany, an experiment was launched, with more than two million bidders being selected for 122 lucky ones who received a tax -free payment of 1,200 euros each month for the next three years. The participants were 21 to 40 years old and earned between 1100 and 2600 euros a month before their involvement.

Research work was organized by a non -profit organization Mein Grundeinkommen (my basic incentive)which was created by businessman Michael Bomeier in 2014. He came to this idea after the sale of his new business. The transaction agreement provided that the entrepreneur would continue to be a co -owner of the company, receiving a thousand euros every month. Over time, the Bomeer was very fond of the situation, and he began to propagate the idea that every person was entitled to such « free money ».

Various groups of scientists were involved in the implementation of the experiment, including the German Institute of Economic Research Diw Berlin. The study is now over and scientists have come to a number of interesting conclusions.

Reduced pressure

Although 1,200 euros in Germany are not too high, but rather the subsistence minimum, the researchers hypothesized that most members with such passive income would be enough to not think about work for three years. However, they made a mistake. Most volunteers continued to work with full -time work 40 hours a week, thus turning the money in the experiment to a pleasant additional income to fulfill their dreams.

True, the attitude of these people to work changed. The parallel members of the 1580 participants rarely changed the job during the experiment, but the beneficiaries of the benefit were faster in their careers and some even resumed their studies at the university. The authors of the work explain this by the fact that the recipients of the basic income felt less risk without money, so they did not hold on to unpleasant or tired nails and teeth. In addition, participants regularly expressed more satisfaction with professional life than the control group.

Released resources

The results of the experiment led to a number of valuable conclusions. First of all, the average person is not lazy and is happy to continue working, even if you get money for not working. This thesis is also largely confirmed by working retirees, who sometimes pay even very generous pensions. Secondly, financial security makes people more satisfied with life and encourage them to test their ability to become more and more responsible. Third, it is easier for people to spend more freely on hobbies or well -being, promoting consumption and tax revenue.

All you have to do is answer the question: Where to take the funds for this basic income? Supporters of theory offer a truly socialist model. Namely, more money to pick up from the rich, reports the broadcaster Deutsche Welle. In Germany, it is enough to redistribute the income of the 10% of the richest population so that the 83% of the poorest can get a sufficient basis. The remaining 7% of the middle class can do from your own expense. They would not be deprived of money and would not be given.
