Not in doubt what happened
Four household cats in Kársnes have disappeared in March. They are suspected to have been kidnapped and driven with them to another town. Cat owners in the neighborhood are upset over the situation.
The case has attracted attention on Facebook where records have been written about the cat’s disappearance, including in the groups Rocky animals in distress and Our Kársnes.
Rare for cats to deviate from habit
Arndís Björg Sigurgeirsdóttir, resident of Kársnes, is the founder and former chairman of the Villikatta Animal Protection Company and today works as a volunteer for the company.
In a conversation with mbl.is, she says she has no doubt what happened.
« The worst thing about this – and I’m not sure they realize it – is that when you take a kitty and go with her in a different environment, she becomes extremely scared.
Says the issue miserable
She admits that cats can sometimes accidentally hit cars and end up far from their home, but considers it unlikely in this case.
« In addition, there are four cats that all disappear all of a sudden, just now in March, in Kársnes. Unfortunately, I think someone has taken the cats and taken them. »
She says the matter is miserable. Cats that are left in a stranger can find it difficult to fish for food and often have to rely on the help of strangers to get shelter and food.
Everyone on the watch
The owners of the cats are grieved and many in the town are worried.
« People who have cats here in Kársnes are upset and are particularly watching their kittens. They are all on duty, if possible. »
One of the cats, Gómez, has been seen in Thorlákshöfn. Arndís says it is heartbreaking to see how many people have been involved in the search.
« I know that many in Thorlákshöfn have helped to look for Gomez yesterday, » she says.
On the other hand, the three cats – diamond, Matthild and Góa have not been seen – despite the fact that Kársnes has been carefully searched and elsewhere. Arndís believes that they have also been driven to another town.
On the way to Thorlákshöfn
Throst Sparri Jónasson, owner of Gómez, was on his way to Thorlákshöfn when a journalist mbl.is caught up with him.
« I’ve got pictures of him from at least two people in Thorlákshöfn, and it’s clearly my cat. He has a tight collar and recognizable. »
He says the anguish of states in the homes of the cats. In addition, the disappearance of financial damage is accompanied by financial damage, as he himself is taking his summer vacation days to look for his cat.
Continuous concerns and not sleeping
Throst has written a post on Facebook where he directs his words to the thief and calls for the other owners to be informed of where their cats are.
« You have caused me and my emotional harm, we have been constantly worried about the cat, not sleeping, spent countless time looking for him and worrying.
