Not all dealers like a new security concept
Bratwurst smell, children’s carousel and vegetable slicer – all of this belongs to the Augsburger Dult. This year, however, the visitors will initially fall The wide barriers to the inputs that separate the market area from the rest of the street. There are cars in front of the passages so that the area can only be entered on foot. Friedrich Wüst from the Augsburg Market Office explains an additional security measure that is supposed to protect against possible attacks. Due to the security requirements, the Dult also had to be smaller this year. « Instead of 120, there are only a good 100 feeders. It has become considerably less, » says Wüst, who implemented the regulatory office’s requirements.
At the birdor, the market area has been relocated significantly. This affects Karlheinz Lacker, who runs the children’s carousel. Actually, it was always right at the entrance at the bird gate and was already clearly visible from the street. Due to the additional security measures, Lacker now had to change the location. « The picture of the Dult has changed. Going away from such a traditional place is not so good, » he says. However, the carousel operator finds the safety precautions correctly: « You have to react because afterwards it is too late. » And so far, no fewer people have come due to the change of location.

Robert Both from Garten Peter sees the change of location rather negative. « It doesn’t matter where you stand, » he criticizes. Many of the feeders have been changed, so they could no longer find the regular customers. He himself was in the same place for 15 years – at his car he almost had space at this year’s location. « People want to be visible and many visitors don’t find me now, » says Both. He sees the error in a sometimes lack of practical relevance in the organization and planning of the Dult.
Dult in Augsburg: Many dealers had to move
Klaus Lebeda from Thassolea Manufaktur also had to move because of the security measures. In the past he always stood at the bird gate, now on the other side the dult can be found on the Jakobertor. « Now we had to go down the whole length. We hope that it will still be good, » he says. So that his regular customers find him, Lebeda has hung extra signs on the barriers with which he indicates the new location. However, the seller is glad that he is at the Jakobertor and not in the middle of the dult. « Then you can just say that we are at the other end, » he explains. It is still uncertain whether the sale of oil, vinegar and spices is just as well as usual. « It will be », but Lebeda is certain. In any case, the weather predicts good sales for the sellers. In bright sunshine, the Dult already recorded numerous visitors on Holy Saturday.
