NOS director Eringa will reject salary after a fuss ‘coming months’
Interim NOS director Renate Eringa will abandon her salary in the coming months. That has the NOS announced on Tuesday. Once RTL News Last week, Eringa had received a reimbursement of 28,800 euros per month last year, a fuss arose about her salary. This not only led to tensions within the NOS, but also MPs from VVD, NSC and BBB, among others, worried about the issue.
« One thing is like a pole above water: if I had known in advance that my reward would raise so many questions and criticism, I would never have wanted it that way, » Eringa said in a statement.
Eringa was hired as a self-employed person in June 2024 for the position of interim director at the NOS. The Top Income Standardization Act (WMT) applies to broadcasters. The reward ceiling is laid down for all directors in the public sector. People who work for an interim administrator position at the public broadcaster may earn more than the maximum annual salary (233,000 euros) from a fixed NOS director.

Last October the NOS announced that Eringa will stay as director for the next three years. Nevertheless, it turned out that she had received the salary from an interimmer in the months to January 2025.
The NOS argued last week that, given Eringa appointment as an interim director, the reward is not contrary to the law. « The NOS acts completely in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations, » a NOS spokesperson told RTL News last week.
On Tuesday Eringa announced that her reward « should not make no difference at the bottom of the line with what a ‘permanent’ director at the NOS earns. » This applies to the entire period she works for the NOS. « To achieve this, I will work without reimbursement in the coming months. » Eringa will talk to NOS employees to ‘answer living questions’.
