Norovirus bonfire at the Police Academy. The situation was mastered
In a statement issued by the Police Academy in Szczytno, it was announced that the conducted research failed to identify the pathogen that caused infection. Samples were taken from both food and water, as well as from the kitchen staff, but none of them pointed to the presence of the virus.
The pathogen is undetected, but the virus is still dangerous
Infection took place two weeks agoand the number of sick students and listeners was about 100 people. As reported, the situation was quickly mastered thanks to the immediate interruption of the infection chain.
Janusz Dzisko, Warmian-Masurian State Sanitary Inspector, in an interview with PAP, explained that one sick person was the likely source of infection.
It was a virus commonly called stomach flu. In large clusters of people, such as the Police Academy, infections are very easy, e.g. by using joint toilets
– said the gate.
Despite the large number of patients, the situation was quickly controlled. – The disease affected about 100 people, but at that time a total of 1.2 thousand stayed at the Academy. people – the inspector emphasized in an interview with PAP.
In connection with the outbreak of infections, 10 people required the help of the hospital emergency department in Szczytno, while the remaining patients were treated at a medical clinic operating at the Police Academy. Thanks to efficient intervention, the infections were quickly extinguished.
Pool problems. Blue oil bacterium was detected
Regardless of the norovirus bonfire, the Police Academy announced another health problem. During routine water tests in the pool belonging to the facility, Sanepid detected the presence of blue oil bacteria. Therefore, the object was closed immediately.
As ensured in the announcement, the pool will be re -opened only after thoroughly cleaning the water and pool devices from bacteria. It was also emphasized that this situation is independent of Norovirus focus.
How can you protect yourself from Norowirus?
Norovirus, often called « stomach flu », is highly contagious and easily spreads in large clusters of people. To reduce the risk of infection, it is worth remembering a few basic rules: thoroughly washing your hands, especially after using the toilet and before eating, avoiding contact with sick people. It is also worth disinfecting toilets and door handles.
