None of the patients from Kocani admitted to « Pirogov » is on mechanical ventilation, said hospital director Valentin Dimitrov

All eight patients who were seriously injured in a fire at a discotheque in Kocani, Northern Macedonia, hospitalized at Pirogov Hospital, have already been exposed. None of the patients are on mechanical ventilation, some of them use an oxygen mask-hospital director Dr. Valentin Dimitrov told NOVA television.

Our desire is to help these people as soon as possible and return to families, but we cannot say how long their treatment will last, he added.

Dimitrov thanked everyone who donated blood to treat the injured. « I haven’t seen such a spontaneous and quick response for a long time and such a desire to help, » he said, noting that the action could be continued if needed.

-Sami treatment is very expensive because it includes many bio -products, many antibiotics, and very specific equipment, but in the present case we do not think about money. The question of how much it costs and how it will be paid was not on the agenda. The hospital is provided with everything needed-said Dr. Dimitrov.

« We give relatives information about the situation of the victims once a day, and we also inform the authorities in the Republic of Northern Macedonia, » Dimitrov said.

A total of 59 people were killed and more than 150 were injured after a fire broke out at a Kocani discotheque during a concert. Some of the injured were taken to treatment abroad. Fourteen of the injured were taken to Bulgaria, eight patients were admitted to Pirogov hospital.
