No tram downtown Athens for three months

For the next three months, tram trains will not come close enough to the center of the capital.

In particular, as it became known by OASA, Tram's traffic in the Constitution will be interrupted to complete the necessary redevelopment work on Vas. Olga Avenue.

Thus, from Tuesday, March 4 to June 15, passengers will not be able to be served by the « Syntagma », « Zappeion » and « Vouliagmeni Avenue » stops.

'End' in Fix

Specifically, from tomorrow to mid -June, Line 6 of Tram Pikrodafni – Syntagma will have the Fix Station.

The discontinuation of tram routes had been announced by the redevelopment of public spaces SA, but according to the timetable of the previous administration of the Municipality of Athens, it would be 2021.

This timetable, however, presupposes that the work will be done on time and that there will be no delays, which may shift the tram return to the city center even after the summer.

For at least three months the tram will not appear in the Constitution.

Was missing for two years

It is recalled that the previous tram circulation interruption in downtown Athens was held in October 2018 and lasted about two years.

It was then a decision by the Region of Attica and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport in order to make the necessary studies for a possible need to support the Kalirrois Avenue, where the tram passes.
