No politics with food, we have brought the case to the institutions
The National Food Authority has performed its task according to protocols and is committed to guaranteeing food safety
The Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development, Anila Denaj, has reacted to the case of a load of chicken fillets, which have been found to be salmonella and entered into the Albanian market consumed by citizens.
According to Denaj, who has spoken to Euronews Albania, the case is delicate and cannot become politics with it. As he guaranteed that the issue was brought to the relevant institutions, taking all measures.
According to the Minister, the National Food Authority has performed its task according to the protocols and is committed to guaranteeing food safety.
« The AKU situation is clear; the agency has performed the task and conducted the necessary checks. Of course, the news has been made public, the answers to the analysis have been confirmed and the entire control chain, for which the AKU denounced those who violated the protocols, » Denaj mentioned the case.
She added that the case belongs to institutions such as the economic crime, or the State Police, which should also give the relevant judgment.
« Not only have we reacted, but we have also brought issues to the institutions.
Law enforcement authorities announced on Saturday on March 29 in search of the administrator of a private company, which imported chicken with Salmonella bacteria.
After a significant quantity was released, the police have also prosecuted three NFA inspectors for the offense of « Abuse of office ».
Meanwhile, the authorities have also proceeded to the brother of the administrator for the offense of « Importing, Production, Sale and Conservation of Hazardous Foods or Lives of People ».
“Section for the Investigation of Economic and Financial Crime at the DVP Tirana, under the direction of the Prosecutor’s Office at the Tirana General Jurisdiction Court, conducted investigative and procedural actions regarding the case of entering a quantity of salmonella food products and the following actions were announced as a citizen of the AG, (AG). Mg, 53 years old (50-year-old’s brother), GH, 38, SL, 42, and AS, 46 years old.
Citizen AG, in the capacity of the company’s administrator together with his brother MG citizen, imported food products where, based on analysis by the relevant institutions, they have found that the Bacteria of Salmonella confirm in their contents, the authorities confirm.
Whereas, the citizens GH, SL, and AS, in the capacity of the NFA inspectors with their actions and omissions have allowed the introduction of these products.
Procedural materials were forwarded to the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office for further action.
