« We are glad that sports clubs have accepted our invitation. We are raising awareness through these young people who successfully represent our city. We live groups of people who require our support and tolerance. Their needs, way of life, education and education are different from healthy children. »

Substitute the state

World awareness of autism did not remind themselves for the first time in Lučenec. A community of families whose loved ones have a disorder of the autism spectrum has been organized in the city a long time ago.

They meet in the club room spectrum or community center 3Pé, spend time together and try to raise awareness of autism.

The nationwide civic association Hans also gives them a helping hand. Ambassador Vlasta Piecková Beňová explained that they regularly organize summer camps, support groups for parents and autistic children and various other activities.

« I like the idea of networking and cooperation, so I am pleased that we are getting more and more. Many organizations have come, for which I am very grateful. I believe we will continue this way, » she said.

Piecková Beňová stressed that OZ Hans and similar organizations must be replaced by the state to help the disadvantaged state.

« We have a lot of only -Geodish families who lack support from the state and often from loved ones. They lack money for therapy, or do not have many opportunities to complete them in the district. »

« We are also striving to create statistics of the number of people with autism spectrum disorders in individual regions and throughout Slovakia, so that we know how many such people are increasing per year, » added Piecková Beňová.

Answers don’t look for the Internet

Long waiting times for diagnosis are also a problem in some locations. They try to fight this in Poltár, where a private specialized center of counseling and prevention for children and pupils with autism operates.

The center is devoted to therapy, support of social services and education in autistic children. Director Ľuboslava Porubovičová explained that the main service is diagnostics.

« We find out autism manifestations in children from 18 months to adults with the help of several professional employees. The psychologist, special and social pedagogue or speech therapist will create a very detailed report with which a parent or adult client will head to the psychiatrist.

In case of confirmation of the disorder of the autism spectrum, people in the Poltár Center will receive assistance in the form of therapies, developing communication skills or directing to the ideal path of education.

Porubovičová warned parents not to try to find answers on the Internet in case of suspicion, but to contact their and similar expert centers. « We appreciate various parental groups where they share knowledge, tips and experience with each other, but the symptoms are so variable that they must be assessed by an expert. »

Free workouts for handicapped children

Children with autism spectrum disorders offer space and sports clubs. One of them is the Hakutsur white crane, which is offered by Para karate for children with a handicap. These are thus under the guidance of an experienced coach in training and success can also be collected in competitions.

« We currently have a group of Para karate full. There are eight children who have a sick heart, the problems with the musculoskeletal system, are underestimated, have surpassed the cerebral palsy or have an autistic spectrum disorder, » said Jana Gašperíková from Karate Club.
