Newborn baby found along the Scheldt: “Wrong in a blanket, vulnerable”

Last Saturday, a passer -by found a newborn baby in a nature reserve along the Scheldt on the border of Flanders and Wallonia in Pecq (province of Hainaut). « The child does put it. »
The find was announced on Tuesday evening via social media by Mayor Aurélien Brabant of Pecq. That municipality borders Spiere-Helkijn (West Flanders).
According to Brabant, he was alerted by the police, that’s how he starts his story. « On Saturday evening my phone rang, » says the mayor on Facebook. « It wasn’t a normal phone call. On the other side of the line, the chief of police reported me that a newborn baby had been found, left between the Scheldt and the Spierekanaal. A tiny life, offered to the wider world, hidden in the silence of a forgotten corner of our municipality. Wrong in a blanket, but luckily still alive. »
It was an alert passers -by who made the find. The emergency services brought the child to the hospital.
The deep mayor of Pecq visited the child on Tuesday. « You slept peacefully … and suddenly two small smiles appeared on your face. You didn’t need more to hit my father’s heart again, » he writes on Facebook.
Aurélien Brabant focuses on the mother in the message and invites her to report. « It’s never too late, » he says.
