The brothers Murat and Burak Cubuk have fulfilled a dream: With “Guru Anatolia” they now opened their first own restaurant in Augsburg – in Volkhartstrasse, there, there where the tapas bar « purist » and finally The Italian restaurant « qubi » Receive guests. Turkish cuisine has been served here since mid -May.
The brothers have been traveling all over Bavaria with their food trucks since 2019 and have established themselves in the regional street food scene. As co -organizer of the Turkish Street Food Festival, the At the beginning of May on the gas workshop took place in Augsburg, they are also involved in the Augsburg gastronomy. So now your own restaurant. The decision to this matured over a longer period of time. After two years of searching for the right location, the brothers found what they were looking for on Volkhartstraße. After the « QuBI » restaurant closed in March, the rooms were redesigned and now offer space for around 70 guests. The interior is kept in black, brown and gray tones, the counter in marbled optics sets an elegant accent. A bike on the wall is still reminiscent of the predecessor – a detail that was gladly taken over. And a humorous neon lettering gives the local charm: « Tokum Ama Yerim » stands on the wall in Turkish. Burak Cubuk translates with a smile: « That means something like: I’m full, but eat anyway. »
The 32-year-old Murat Cubuk is the creative head in the kitchen. The former project manager in sales uses his experience and passion for good food to develop his own recipes. A special feature of the “Guru Anatolia” is the Çökertme court – a regional court from the Aegean region of Türkiye. Thin cut, marinated meat – beef or chicken – is fried and served on a bed of potato strips. There are also yogurt and a spicy tomato sauce. A dish that is not yet found in Augsburg, according to Murat Cubuk.
