New report: The Medical Association sees no future for Millennium
The collected protocol records from the MBL and consultations that the Västra Götaland region, VGR, had around the new planned medical record system shows a clear pattern.
Ever since the procurement 2018, the union alerts about lack of information and participation. The closer the introduction on November 12 last year you come, the sharper becomes the concern and the criticism. Still, the union representatives who sat in the meetings think that the protocols – when they read them again, afterwards – show a beautiful picture of what actually happened.
– We ended up very often in talks about how the group would work, instead of what. My view is that the employer himself did not understand what it was about but fumbled in the dark, says Ylva Kastrup, chief physician in neurology and included in the Millennium reference group from the start.
She means she And her colleagues were often portrayed as change -minded, as soon as they wanted to talk about patient safety and work environment.
– The Kafkal -like metad discussions about how we union would gain transparency continued all the way to the introduction, says Kastrup.
Her chairman, Emelie Hultberg, says that the work on the report has made her see the dysfunctional process in a clearer light.
– Here everything is very clear when we look back. You get dark. How can we have rigged an organization that is so information resistant?
The Medical Association’s analysis is not just about the internal trade union discussions, but also about all the open criticism they have presented over the years. Letter by letter to managers and politicians, who were among other people also noticed in the media.
September 24 Last year, for example, the section at SÄS in Borås conducted a member survey which showed that more than 9 out of 10 doctors wanted to pull the emergency brake and stop the introduction. The reason was lack of transparency and substandard education.
Section chairman Laura Raduta wrote to the hospital management and wondered why they just had to practice the simplest scenarios and why not even they worked?
« When they do not float on, how will it be to deal with multi -sick complex patients with acute illnesses at the day of the introduction? Shouldn’t it be tested on a pilot unit before it is broadened throughout the season overnight? »
Pediatricians came with similar questions in a letter to their managers, which were copied to the responsible politicians. It was told about an exercise to get a referral into the system, which took almost three hours – « despite the fact that ten representatives from the millennium program participated in the exercise ». Then there were two weeks left.
The Medical Association writes in the new report that they made repeated bumps on risk assessments of the system, but they were only « to a small extent or not at all, which may be explained by the fact that there was no completed system to assess ».
When the date came for « Go live », the doctors describe how they asked to attend the press conference, but were denied access. One member – Wojciech Skup – struck in anyway and interrupted When the collected message from the podium was that everything « went well ». SKUP called it all a « disaster », but after he stormed out, the leadership resembled his frustration with what many feel when « changing a mobile phone ».
Overall, the doctors have After all this landed in about ten conclusions. The first is that they do not think that Millennium will be in the future in VGR. The second is that they lack confidence, both for the highest management in VGR and for the organization that has been tasked with running the millennium process.
As a third point, they want to emphasize that politics also has a responsibility: « They chose to listen to the service persons and dismiss the healthcare staff. »
This last has the chairman of the regional board Helén Eliasson (S) recently admitted.
– We have an organization with an administration that will provide us with a basis, and they said that the criticism that came would be solved. But for the future, it is extremely important to get us all employees.
The same week As a millennium, a MBL was emerged, where doctors’ trade union Saco expressed concern that employers seemed to hold on to the fact that Millennium was a good system. SACO considered that even if the introduction would have gone completely problem -free, the basic structure of the system is poor, time -consuming and patient dangerous.
There the medical association is firm. They want Millennium to be scrapped for good. On Wednesday, the regional board meets an extra crisis meeting on the issue.
