New reinforcement of the firefighting device
The rural firefighting device is again reinforced this Sunday, for the second time this year. They are on the ground permanently 9,745 operational and 65 air assets, a number that will increase throughout the month.
According to the National Operational Directive (DON) that establishes the Special Rural Fire Fighting Device (DECIR), this device will be on the ground until June 30, and it is the second reinforcement of the year, in which it is called ‘Charlie Level’.
During this period, they will be available and “permanent” 9,745 operational ones that are part of 1,983 teams from the various agents present on the ground and 2,048 vehicles, in addition to the air assins, which will be a maximum of 76.
Throughout the month, available means may increase in case of need, providing for mobilization in 24 hours of additional means that can reach 13,243 elements of 2,243 teams and 2,922 vehicles.
These 13,243 operatives of the 2,243 teams involved in the decir throughout June are elements belonging to volunteer firefighters, mostly, special civil protection force, republican National Guard military and elements of the Nature and Forest Conservation Institute, namely forest sappers and forest fire brigade
The air lifts planned for this phase are available throughout June.
The means of combat will be reinforced again on July 1st and until September 30-“Delta´-, in what is considered the most critical phase of fires and mobilizes the largest device.
Provisional data from the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF) report that this year has already occurred about 1,224 occurrences of fire that burned approximately 4,220 hectares.
