Former Open VLD secondary member Sihame El Kaouakibi, together with her partner and the VZW Let’s Go Urban, have to answer for a falsification and subsidy fraud in relation to the city of Antwerp and the Flemish Community.
The council chamber ruled that, as far as Flemish funds are concerned, there is a false and subsidy fraud. According to Flanders, there is also abuse of corporate goods. The community therefore went to the Chamber of Invaluation (KI), but it declared the profession inadmissible. The referral of the council chamber to the correctional court was thus retained. Flanders is now moving to the Court of Cassation against that decision of the Ki.
If Flanders had not gone into cassation appeal, the lawsuit could have started at the end of this year, but it may now be postponed again.
Chris Janssens agrees with the decision to appeal again. « If a delay can lead to a heavier punishment, that is the bluts with the bump, » he says.
