New Poll: In the wrong direction all parties that have ruled
The image of Kyriakos Mitsotakis shows signs of collapse, according to a Public Issue poll (March 2025), conducted in a nationwide sample of 1,200 people aged 17 years and over.
At the same time, the research records a deep crisis in the image of the New Democracy, and respectively are the results for the other two parties that have ruled, PASOK and SYRIZA.
In particular, 68% of respondents (almost 7 out of 10) believe that the ND is moving in the wrong direction, a percentage that approaches the corresponding levels of the 2015 election period (74%), when the « blue » line lost the election to SYRIZA.
Mitsotakis touches the historical bottom of Samaras
However, today’s ND crisis is not just about the public image of the ruling party. It also manifests itself in the image of its political leader.
Thus, the percentage of Kyriakos Mitsotakis, around 29%, has approached the historic minimum of the party (28%) recorded by Antonis Samaras in May 2012.
Low ‘flights’ to PASOK
PASOK’s public image remains at very low levels, as 7 out of 10 citizens believe it is moving in the wrong direction, a view that shared and 42% of its voters in the 2023 national elections.
The image of PASOK President Nikos Androulakis, whose popularity is very low (15%) and can only be compared to that of George Papandreou (10%) before leaving the party leadership in 2012, is similar.
At the worst part of the decade the image of SYRIZA
According to the poll, after five divisions (LAE, Freedom Cruise, Day25, New Left, Movement of Democracy), today’s SYRIZA public image is at the worst of the last decade.
76% of respondents responded that SYRIZA is in the wrong direction, while this figure falls to 58% among the party’s voters in the 2023 elections and much more (15%) among its current voters.
In addition, Socrates Famellou’s image is negative for more than 6 out of 10 (62%), while the negative… record is broken by Stefanos Kasselakis, when he was president of SYRIZA, but also after the departure of executives who formed the new left (76%).
As expected, starting with Nikos Constantopoulos and reaching Socrates Famello, by far the most popular was Alexis Tsipras.
« You are all the same, » people say in ND, PASOK, SYRIZA
The convergence of parties, which have been governed by governance (ND, PASOK, SYRIZA) in the policies of the Memorandums in Greece since 2010, has made political differences indistinct.
As a result, today, the majority of public opinion (53%) believe that they are all « the same ».
